THE LATEST AND GREATEST HOME TECH

By JACOB DELONGPRE

I just moved into my own place after living with my two roommates for 3 years, and I couldn’t be happier. My dudes, once I got those keys in my hand, I ran from room to room yelling “mine all mine” like a greedy kid finally getting his hands on the latest video game. Now that I got my bachelor's pad all to myself, it was time for me to add some tech stuff that will make my life easier, so I don’t have to work harder to maintain my new place. Here are my tech must-haves for the guy who wants to save on plug-in charge space, get a better internet connection, drink healthy (sometimes!), and make their dentist proud.

LEADING THE CHARGE

What can I say about charging stations that haven’t already been said, I mean they save on space when you have a lot of devices to charge, and they don’t crowd up your outlets or better yet not have to look for an unused outlet to charge up. I had to move my bed’s headboard to get to the outlet to plug for my phone and tablet, I was relieved to find an all-in-one charging station. The one I found is from Just Wireless, it’s a 3-in-1 charging pad. Now I can charge my phone, earbuds, and watch all on one charging station. I am telling you, my dudes, if you ain’t got a charging station, you missing out, so grab you one today.

MY PEARLY WHITES

I am a relatively clean gent, I shower every day, keep my hair and beard groomed, and my clothes are always clean and pressed, so imagine my surprise when I went to my dentist for a checkup and he found some plaque on my teeth. I was flabbergasted, ok that’s putting way too much on it, but I was a bit shocked because I brush my teeth twice daily and rinse, ok, ok, I don’t floss though. I figured a toothpick does the trick to remove food left in between my teeth, but apparently not. My dentist recommended that I get an electric toothbrush, apparently, he doesn’t trust the way I brush my teeth, so I called the expert on this, my mom, and she bought me the Aquasonic Ultra Sonic Whitening Toothbrush because apparently, she doesn’t trust me to buy the right one. So, as you can see people have trust issues with me. I do like my toothbrush, it comes with different settings for whitening, massage, cleaning, and even soft. Do yourself a favor and trust yourself to get an electric toothbrush, now I am headed to counseling to deal with these trust issues.

YOU MISSED A SPOT

Let me state for the record that I am not lazy, I just like to find better and quicker ways to clean up. As my boy Bill Gates said “I choose a lazy person to do a hard job. Because a lazy person will find an easy way to do it”, and that’s a quote I live by. I find vacuuming to be a pain, I gotta get up, unravel the long-ass cord, and then move it all around all while bumping into my furniture. My boy told me that his girl bought him a cordless vacuum, so I asked him where I might get my hands on that thing of beauty, and he let me know I could get one at Target. I headed on over and bought the iRobot Roomba i3 Wi-Fi Connect Robot Vacuum 3150, I am being specific because I want my dudes to peep this model out. This vacuum does it all, it learns your place and creates an Imprint™ Smart Map so I can direct it to any room I want to be cleaned, and it’s got good suction too. If you are tired of all the hassle of your vacuum cleaner, then grab this easy vacuum cleaner.

A FINAL THOUGHT

Well, there you have it, my picks for tech in your home. You don’t have to buy the different tech brands I shared in my little opinion piece, cuz ya boy ain’t getting paid from these brands, but whichever tech brands you do buy hopefully you’ll use these picks as a blueprint to your next home upgrade. This has been you, brother, from another motha’ and I am out peace!✌🏽

DUDE, WHERE’s MY WIFI?

You know want to know what my new neighborhood is like? It’s nice, clean, quiet, and practically crime-free, but you know what it’s not WiFi capable. I live in an area where it’s near the hills which makes it difficult for me to have high-speed Wi-fi, and if that wasn’t infuriating my internet carrier says that there’s really nothing they can do about it even though it’s 5G. I went in search of a WiFi device that wouldn’t interfere with my internet provider’s network but could give reliable WiFi, drumroll please, I found Google Nest Mesh WiFi Router. This router is fast, eliminates that annoying buffering, and even has a speaker with Google Assist, so if I need to use the assist, I just “hey, Google pause WiFi for my devices. This saved me so much frustration, and now I can focus on watching my shows in peace.

JUICE IT UP!

I can cook, maybe not as good as my mom or my girl, but I think I can hold my own in the kitchen, the one thing that I am pro at is making smoothies. I take the champion belt when it comes to blending drinks, and one thing I like to do is blend protein fruit smoothies. My kitchen counter space is small, I have a one-bedroom apartment, so I do not the space for a lot of appliances in my kitchen. I gave my former roommate my blender, so I had to go and get another one. My trusty Ninja Nutri-Blender Pro does it for me every time. This little blender crushes ice and fruit with ease and has three different settings, so I can choose how I want my drink to look. If you are into making drinks, then get this blender, my guy.
